I started in Traffic management by accident, like most people, after all, no when there at school says I want to be Traffic Management Operative. The first company I worked for was Trek Highway Services. A great company with some exceptional TM operatives. It was Stewart Halsey who saw the potential in me and asked me to open an NHSS 12 Training Centre. I met some great people, who I still train to this day. My first attempt at a safety campaign was C.O.N.E. Cutting Out Needless Exposure and the birth of Cone-man. CONE had seven modules for different levels of operatives. Stan Moore then took it to the next level. Then started “Help Me Get Home “(your safety campaign), through a website and a WordPress blog, A Facebook group had a good number of operatives attached to the group. I was a key player in bring in the Nissen LZA 500 Portable Traffic Signals. The was carried out with the drive, passion, and financial support of Mervyn Lambert Plant Limited. The LZA are now going from strength to strength. So with the passion and drive still burning for the world of traffic management, I believe that the standard of training and assessing is not as high as it should be, as set out by the National Highways Sector Scheme 12 and administrated by Lantra. So, I decided to set up GKology to provide an independent verification service/consultancy to make sure the company, which is paying for the training, are getting the correct training for their operatives and the operatives are getting the correct training for their employer. This is now going under a revamp. I have left GKology and decided to go self-employed. I feel by doing this I can offer the world of Traffic Management more highways and safety advice.
